Minutes of the Forward Endcap EMC SADC Crate Design Vibe/eZuce meeting, 16th of January 2020, 14:00-15:30
Presence:
Bochum: Tom, Matthias, Claudius, Fritz-Herbert, Malte
Bonn: Christoph, Ulrike
Groningen: Myroslav
Uppsala: Pawel
Status:
The only existing SADC crate from KVI currently located in Bochum: Fits to latest backplane PCB from Uppsala
Later remark by Claudius: maybe distance of SADC PCBs in crate and distance of connectors on PCB do not match (changed dimensions in CAD drawing?) - we will test this as soon as we get the backplane PCB from Uppsala again
The different heat conducting foam samples we got from KVI go to different power dissipating components on the SADC PCBs and account for different heights of the respective devices in order to couple all of them appropriately to the crate bulk
The cooling side plates need to be redesigned in order to include the power supplies sitting on the backplane PCBs - need to wait for final power supplies or at least final dimensions and dissipation figures.
Run and coupling of cooling lines (machined paths rather than enclosed aluminum tubes) not yet fully clear either
Further Design Work:
Remaining resources at KVI unknown, maybe Rick and/or Michel are available until April 2020 and can add to the necessary (re)design work
Machining/mechanical workshops at KVI are already out of business so Bonn and/or Bochum workshops need to build the crates
How to Proceed:
Pawel will send the backplane PCB and 6 SADCs (plus some Versatile Link modules) to Bochum for a definite test of the fitting of components
Further steps will be discussed in the usual biweekly FWEC eZuce/Vibe meetings every other Monday, 2 pm
