VPTT Submodule Production:
Christoph explained the submodule cabling improvement by use of colored meshwork hoses, pictures and a video were shown explaining the procedure and showing difficulties
One critical issue is the pressing of the cables - once connected to the adapter boards - in direction of the backplane. Care must be taken not to damage the fibre bundles sitting at the outer edges of the feed throw cutouts in the backplate
An open issue is the cabling of the annealing LEDs from the adapter boards to the outside. As those cables leave the cold and shielded volume we need coaxial cables unless the current regulators feeding each submodule sit inside the cold volume. The corresponding connector of the adapter board does in no way need to be coaxial.
Delivery of the latest submodule for cosmics testing to Bonn will be Wednesday or Thursday this week (to be clarified by Christoph and Tom), bringing numerous parts from Bonn to Bochum on the way back.
Results of SADC Board Irradiation at KVI:
Myroslav reported about results of proton irradiation tests on the SADC boards at KVI the week before last week
With an irradiation dose of 10^11 protons per square centimeter the boards were finally killed with one FPGA given up - more detailed investigation will follow once the boards can be handled after radiation declined
Before the failure funny behaviour of (one of?) the ADCs of constantly changing between maximum and minimum conversion could be resolved by power cycling
Voltages and currents were monitored to remain stable during irradiation, so the power supply regulators were not affected in any way
Configuration errors at the end of the irradiation time could be observed
Versatile links operated properly during the complete irradiation time (as expected)
