Preamplifier:
Current delivery rate of VPTT preamplifiers is ok for Bochum.
100 extra VPTT preamplifiers will be delivered later (ok).
APD preamplifier production process initiated. Delivery expected in spring 2017.
Werner continues his work at Basel for some time.
Cables:
Claudius has provided Christoph a list of low voltage cables. Christoph will check the space for the cable lugs of the LV cables at the distribution PCB.
I2C-bus cables with 3 mm diameter: Christoph looks for a solution for 2 differential pairs. Please tell him.
SPI cables would need four diffential pair.
These cables need to be routed inside the cold volume to the bottom sides. A length of 3-4 m should be ok for SPI, probably an active component is needed in between these cables. This is to be tested by Christoph.
HV cables ordered, 8 weeks delivery time.
Longer ground strips: to be ordered.
Bochum would need sample signal cables (Nexan) with UFL connector or pitch adapter for tests. Optimal would be the longest version (Malte).
HV distribution board
Christoph has performed long term tests in the lab. The resolution is ok. Setting 0.1V. The reason for a drift of 10mV is to be checked.
Next step is to order prototype boards.
The GSI chip will be submitted to production run. It can also be used as a I2C slave and has a factor of 3 better resolution.
There is no solution for a half Alveole HV distribution board.
SADC firmware (Bonn lab version by Johannes)
The lab firmware for the SADC developed by Johannes Müllers for Bonn is currently in use at Bochum und Mainz.
Johannes will provide different firmware files with different MAC/IP addresses. They will sent to different ports. This will allow to read more than 1/2 SADC.
The firmware will contain an improvement of the trigger detection (leading edge).
A software trigger is implemented (e.g. for baseline/noise measurements). Documentation will be sent.
Luigi asks, if the source code of the firmware can be made available. Johannes will ask Pawel.
In a future version the network IP will be exchanged, to support a copper interface instead of fibre. Bochum will use also in the future the fibre interface.
SADC proto irradiation
Myroslav reported on the proton irradiation of the SADC at KVI:
For fluence up to 1010 p/cm2: no problems with ADC chips, clock manager and SFP. No special (GBT) fibre connectors are needed. FPGA also fine, no need for triple redundancy.
Fluence of 108 p/cm2 no data loss.
It is possible to use double density (128 channel) SADC for the barrel.
Other KVI news
Clustering implemented in concentrator and compute nodes. Will be reported by Marcel at the next PANDA meeting.
Cooling test of SADC in preparation at KVI.
To get green light for crate production a backplane design is needed.
